Created on 11 October 2025. Built it in Bitrwig Studio v4.0. See notes below. Enjoy!
Here is something new - I like the sound, and complexity of Don Buchla's various musical instruments and the amazing VCV Hacks from Jakub Ciupinski. I went ahead and made my own version of a Smooth Sync Bass with Buchla-esque Low Pass Gates as a Bitwig Studio preset. This is still a work in progress and will likely change a few times as I work with it and make adjustments.
AS Complexification Bass v1.0 (Bitwig v4.0+ Poly Grid Preset)
Suggested usage:
Start with the preset as shown above.
Adjust the Silky control to add additional multiplications of the Windowed Oscillator.
W Fold and W Skew adjusts the shape of the Windowed sine.
Cutoff Freq and Resonance controls the filter. Filter Mode will select any of the available filter choices for the XD Filter Device.
C Fold wave folds the Windowed Sine Oscillator. C Skew skews the Oscillator before it is Windowed.
Res Env applies the Voice Pluck Envelope curve progressively to the Filter Resonance.
Noise Lvl blends a multiplied pink noise into the overall voice for a bit of grit.
Attack and Release affect both the Voice and Noise Pluck Envelopes. These are both controlling a lowpass filters which add to the Low Pass Gate effect.
Experiment!
I'll write more as I work with and improve this preset. Goes great with my Shermanik Filterbank or Seal Eggs presets in the device chain.
Warning: can produce frequencies and volumes which may damage hearing, audio gear and speaker coils. Be kind to your ears and gear.
